Come out and see the Chef perform a set of songs from the upcoming album, ASK THE MOON. All the songs were inspired by the characters and themes from my short story manuscript of the same name, which was my thesis at the Regis Mile High MFA program. Each song takes the point-of-view of one of the characters and channels their issues and their longing into musical and lyrical form. Here’s a set-list, including the POV of each song:
- Goddamn Them All! (POV: Pilar, writing about the eventual demise of her relationship with Memo)
- Nothing Exists (POV: Harry, writing in the aftermath of Pilar leaving him for Memo)
- Blue Thing (POV: Pilar, writing about her imaginary friend, Orgo)
- Contigo (POV: Pilar, writing about her estranged sister, Goldy, and how she prefers the imaginary version of her to the real one)
- Tibidabo (POV: Harry, falling in love with Pilar)
- Visage (POV: Pilar, on how she sees faces everywhere)
- Where Are They Now? (POV: Memo, yearning for lost loves, lost dreams and lost songs)
- Already (POV: Harry, healing)
- Ask the Moon (POV: Harry, on losing Pilar)
- My Japanese Fountain Pen (POV: Pilar, on her favorite pen)
- Better Than Silence (POV: Memo, on the music that made him)
- Orpheus in Love: new song
- Thickface (Wild Moon Tonight): unreleased Firstimers song
